Walk of Life – Day 13, October 2020 – Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs

A faithful ambassador brings health. – Proverbs 13:17

This proverb is written by king Solomon who lived in the days of inadequate technology. He did not have television, radio, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, or any of the modern media vehicles through which he can disseminate information. Solomon didn’t even have a telephone with which to speak directly with foreign heads of state. I know this may seem archaic to us today, but Solomon actually had to use messengers to get his strategic message out and to serve as negotiators for his kingdom. Obviously, the reliance upon these messengers made the selection of them vitally important. These men had to be absolutely trustworthy. Inaccurate information could lead to bloodshed. If a messenger allowed his emotions to get the best of him, while negotiating with a foreign head of state, the results could be disastrous for both nations. Solomon needed to know that when he sent a messenger out with a message that the messenger would both reliably relay the message and responsibly represent the spirit in which it was sent.

Our English teacher used to conduct a game called as “Chinese Whispers” when we were at school. She whispered a sentence into the ears of the first student and the whispering should continue till the last student of the class and he/she should say that loud.
One live example let me share here. The sentence that she said was “out of 100 sheep, one sheep was lost and the remaining was 99.”
The sentence that the last boy uttered was “The last ship was repaired for 99,000”. What a complete change!

Communication is like a virus. It always undergoes process of mutation. A change in the tone can give an entirely different conception about the context. So an ambassador should be very careful in delivering the message. Along with the words of his authority he should also deliver his spirit. Or else the entire purpose could be diverted. An ambassador represents an entire nation. He stands there representing his country, his higher authority, his country’s standards, moral values and so on. He should be very much careful with every word he speaks, with the way he attires himself, and in all his body language. If he is going to make a mistake in the country where he has been sent as an ambassador it will project a wrong picture about the country and his higher authority.

If this is so intense with this world’s country’s ambassador are, we not the ambassador of Christ and His kingdom? How much should we be careful to be careful and cautious at all times. The words that we speak must bring soundness to the listener. It should bring health. Only when we receive the word directly from His throne, we will be able to deliver the content promptly.

you are actually called an “Ambassador for Christ” (2nd Cor 5:20). The Father needs to know that we can be trusted to share His goodness everywhere He blesses our feet to tread. Once God knows we can be trusted, He will setup divine appointments for us. Are we ready to represent God today? If so, get ready for divine appointments!
May the grace of our Lord enrich us and abide with us so that we will be trust worthy ambassadors to Him.
