JESUS CHRIST – OUR MEDIATOR

1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

There is one group of people who have a different faith, in which they have a person like them, but in a higher position who enacts as a mediator between God and man. People go to him and tell him all the sins that they have committed during the week, he hears them and prays and forgives them by giving a slip of forgiveness. This was the practice which prevailed even during olden days. We read about it in the Old Testament from the Holy Bible. People who were called priests, served as mediators between God and man. For the priest to enter the most holy place, he had to be holy. If there was any unholy thing found in him, he would die immediately. Such was the practice till the death, burial, and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now we do not have any such human mediator to take our pleas to God, and bring His word to us. The Lord Jesus Christ is our only mediator. It is true that the Lord Jesus Christ has reconciled us with God. We are made the children of the Most High by believing and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior. However, we fall short in holiness due to our sinful nature. Though we are redeemed from the power and penalty of sin, we are still in the presence of sin. So, we need a mediator to take our pleas to the most holy God. The qualification that God requires from the ones who approach Him is that they should be holy like Him. Only the Lord Jesus Christ meets the requirement.

Now what should we be doing after knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as our mediator? Be grateful and thank Him at all times for being your mediator. He is interceding for the sinners who believe in Him, doing the job of an advocate for us in the presence of  the Heavenly Father.

Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as our mediator, teaches us one more lesson, that is, there is no one except for Him between God and us. When we go on a tough road, troubled with sin, we need not run to people to tell them what wrong we have done or how we can be forgiven. All we need to do is go to our mediator in prayer and admit our mistake, or seek for His guidance or instruction. He will always guide us in the right path.

May we see the Lord Jesus Christ as our mediator and praise Him for all His goodness.
