Walk Of Life, Day 14 – July 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs

Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.”

This verse reminds me of an incident where a U.K.G. student was arguing with his mother. His mother found a word misspelt in his notes and tried to correct him, but the child was not prepared to agree with her. He was repeatedly telling her with his eyes filled with tears, “You are wrong and my teacher is right.”

Who do you think is wise? the mother or the son? Obviously, the mother is wiser than the child. The child is simple and lacks wisdom. Whatever is taught to him, he will accept it without giving it a thought.

He is a small kid hardly 5 years old. The most surprising thing is that we find many among the “Grown Ups” who are just like this small boy. They accept whatever they happen to hear. Not just that but when the truth is brought before them, they find it hard to accept the truth. They end up fighting for the wrong and against the right.

So sad, is it not? Do you remember the Bereans? Apostle Paul testifies about them in Acts 17:11 that they received the word and searched the scriptures daily. They did not blindly accept whatever they heard in the gathering but they searched in the scriptures after going home. This is the attitude a child of God must possess.

Our eyes have eye lids but our ears do not. We happen to hear many things which may include false preaching, gossips, rumors which can disturb our faith and mislead us in our spiritual journey. It is mandatory for all of us to be like the wise men waiting for the Lord, searching in His scriptures, and being led by the Spirit.

God has chosen you and me to be prudent but not simple!

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Give me a wise heart. Help me to be vigilant in taking your guidance before I trust any news or any person. Let me not be like a child, simple and void of understanding causing trouble to myself. Help me to grow in you daily. In the matchless name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
