Walk of Life – Day 14 , June,2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs. Fear Not!
“Fear not for you shall be satisfied from yourself.”
Proverbs 14:14 “The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.”
In whatsoever we do we receive the complete joy and peace only when we are satisfied with our work. The wise man, King Solomon says that a good man shall be satisfied from himself. In the past we all must have been one amongst those who longed to be satisfied in our soul. We must have tried to fill ourselves with many things, which could not satisfy us.
Pascal’s quote says, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.”
It is so true that we had been trying to fit different things into this vacuum. all the things that we tried left a dearth, there was not a single thing that could fit exactly in the vacuum, except for the Lord Jesus Christ.
How can a person be satisfied from himself?
As we have already seen that there is a vacuum in us which can only be filled by the Lord Jesus Christ, we will now see how this can lead us to satisfaction. Many a times when we come across troublesome situations, our immediate response would be to approach the world to satisfy us. Many youngsters these days give themselves to drugs, alcohol, smoking to relieve themselves from tension. I have heard a man telling,” I go through a lot in my office. to compensate that tension, I started to drink.” In most of the metropolitan cities where women are competitive to men in their work fields have been trying to show that they are no where less than men even in practicing few habits, which were previously taken up by men, such as smoking and drinking. Few might have started it as a craze, but many have taken it as an alternative to satisfy themselves. To fill themselves with joy, peace they chose these ways. However, the peace that they think they would receive is temporal.
1 John 4:4 says,” Greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
Who is that Greater one that is in us? Is HE there in you?
The Lord Jesus Christ is the greater one who dwells in the person that accepts Him as his/her personal savior.
Do you know and confess that you are a sinner?
Do you believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for you on the cross of Calvary, shed His precious blood to cleanse you from your sins?
Did you accept Him to come into your heart as your Lord and Savior?
If your answer is ‘Yes’ to all the questions mentioned above, then you have made the Greater one, the Lord Jesus Christ your savior. He dwells in you.
And this answers our question of being satisfied from ourselves. when you really start knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, you will realize how insufficient you are. He is the source of the peace and joy. There is no question of dearth or inadequacy in Him. There is always sufficiency in Him. His love, His grace, His wisdom are always sufficient for us. Having the Lord Jesus Christ within us we lack nothing!
This does not mean that we do not fall sick or we do not go through tough times. we do fall sick, we do go through tough times. However, there is nothing that we need to be afraid of as the one who is within you satisfies you. Even when Apostle Paul went through some physical morbidity which he calls a sting, God did not take away the sting. He said that His grace is sufficient.
So, my dear friend, let not the circumstances drag you down and create an illusion of insufficiency in you. Just take a moment and look into yourself, there is the Lord Jesus Christ who gives everything to you without measure. When you truly understand this fact, you shall be satisfied from yourself. Amen.
