Walk Of Life – Day 15, January 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Enter.

Proverbs 15:26 “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.”

Enter to speak pleasant words.

There are many verses in the book of Proverbs which state about pleasant words and their importance in our lives. When we look at ourselves, is there any day where we have spent the entire day being quiet? No, it can never happen. Even those who do not know to communicate through speech try to use sign language or they use their pen to communicate. What kind of words are we speaking?

William Arthur Ward has written a poem ‘Before You’. There is a line in that poem as such, ‘Before you write, think.’  Words come from our thoughts. The verse that we read from Proverbs 15:26 says in its first part that the thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord. In the second part we read that the words of the pure are pleasant words. The thoughts that we cultivate in our minds compel us to utter the words that can either heal a person or can break them. We all know it very well that out God is the one who looks into our hearts. He is not a man to be deceived by our outward appearance, He knows our very intention and judges us according to that.

There are different types of words based on their functioning. In Proverbs we read about such words and their functions. In Proverbs 15:4 we read about ‘gentle words’ that bring ‘life and health’. In Proverbs 18:4 we read about the words that bring true wisdom and many more.

During this pandemic, many of us looked for such soft, kind and pleasant words. The word of God reminds us to have watch over our words. There was a believer who was struck with the virus and was terrified looking at the ongoing situation. At the same time another believer reaches him over the phone. When the sick person shares his fear and asks for his help in prayer, the person’s words were like piercing swords to him that pushed him to more fear and discouragement. As a child of God we are supposed to carry smooth, gentle and words that heal and bring life to those who are lifeless. Our thought, when they are wicked will always compel us to utter the words that damage a soul.

Our word and our thought should always be acceptable in the sight of the Lord. Many a times we must have uttered many such words that might have caused trouble to many either with or without our knowledge. Come to the Lord in prayer, admit it before Him that your words and your thoughts were not acceptable in His sight in few situations. Accept that you became a cause of pain to some person in the past. If God is reminding you of any such person, immediately apologize to God as well as that person.

Let us now determine to surrender our thoughts and our tongue to the Lord Jesus, He purifies them with His precious blood. Let us all use our words to bring glory to God.
