Walk Of Life – Day 15, October 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”
A teacher gave her students a candy each and asked them to eat it in a place where no one sees them. The students took their candy and searched for a safest place to have it. The next day, when the teacher asked her students if they all had finished eating their candy, all hands were raised up except for one little boy’s. The teacher called the boy and enquired why he did not have the candy. For which the boy replied,” Ma’am, I found a place where I could hide from everyone. As I was unwrapping the candy, I remembered that God has been watching me. No matter where I went, He was still watching me. So, I could not find any place to hide.”
The boy has given a big message in just one line. There is no place on the earth which is hidden from the Lord. Read Psalm 139:7-12 and Jeremiah 23:24, the Lord declares,” Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him?”
Sadly, many of us have been doing the same foolishly. We have been living in an illusion that we can hide from God while we sin. There was a believer who once shared an instance from his life which serves as a warning to us. Those were the days when he newly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. He had a habit of watching movie in theatre as soon as it was released. While he was going out on some work, he saw a poster of a movie in front of a theatre. There was a great battle going on within himself between the new man and the flesh. Finally, the flesh won and he stood in the queue to get the ticket. While he was going further towards the counter, he heard a voice telling him to purchase two tickets. He could not go much further after hearing to that voice from within. So, he came out and went home. That night, God was speaking to him. “You are my child. Do you expect me to wait outside the hall till you come out? You prayed before leaving the house saying, “Lord lead me and be with me.” Would you dare to take me in with you?”
Dear friend, our prayers are not just beautifully arranged sentences that we have memorized since childhood. We all pray for God’s presence to be with us throughout the day. Once examine yourself at the end of each day. In all the activities that you have been doing, God has been watching it. How do you feel now? If you feel embarrassed or frightened, then that is not to be done by you for sure.
There are few youngsters who question,” When the Bible does not mention about a sin by its name, why do you call it a sin?” (For example, smoking). When you do such thing, just think if your creator would enjoy seeing you do it. That would answer all your questions.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place. He is watching all the things that you have been doing. Do not live in an illusion that you can hide things from Him. It is not easy to be good always, when we think of it practically. However, it is not impossible.
