Walk Of Life – Day 16, November 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. Proverbs 16:6 (KJV)
For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 117:2
Today if you are reading this article or for me to write it is only by the grace and mercy of God. We know how many have lost their lives during these difficult times and how many families are wailing, it is just by the grace and mercy of our God that we are still in good health and strength. Is it not a miracle that we are alive in midst of pandemic or floods and perilous times? God is protecting us under His mighty wings though we are unworthy. When we look back at what all God has done, our hearts fill with gratitude and fear of the Lord.
Forgetfulness may be a boon sometimes to forget the bitter experiences and sometimes pain, however, many a time, we forget the things we should not forget and forget to be mindful of the mighty things and wonders that God has done for us, the good things and the grace of God that was shown toward us so unconditionally. Yet we doubt our Lord, question Him, and have a declining faith.
Looking at God’s mercy and grace melts the heart of a believer and causes him to draw closer to the Lord, to fear Him, and remain faithful. We often take everything for granted, we easily forget the most minute blessings which are so important. We often forget to count our blessings and start worrying whether we will receive more and more blessings. When you count your blessings, never forget the breath of life which is so precious. We are made of dust as in Genesis 2:7 – And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. What an awesome thing it is that God’s breath has the power to bring dust into being, God breathed His holy breath into man, we are made with dust which is so light and flies off with a breeze or just a breath but when the Lord formed into a wonderful being. Never be forgetful of the breath that God has given you, keep praising God whenever you feel low or whenever you are tempted to sin. The mercy of the Lord and His grace that you have tasted in life ought to make us faithful to God and help us to fear Him and His truth must set us free. It brings fear and trembling to imagine the mighty power of God. Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
If we are not trembling in His presence or not giving heed to God’s Word, what is it that is hindering us, how is carelessness creeping into our hearts and distracting us from fearing God? It is never too late to seek His face. Let God know that you have a heart to worship Him by doing something for the Lord in return to all that He has done. The joy or love that you have received is not something that you should keep it for yourself, keep it moving and reach out to those in need with a humble spirit and the will of the Lord Almighty. If you neglect or care less about the work of God and the burden that God has placed in your heart, God would not be pleased.
“The remarkable thing about God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.” – Oswald Chambers
