Walk of Life – Day 16 – September 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Proverbs 16:17 NIV
Those who travel a lot or people who drive may know that travelling in the lanes in the city takes more time than driving on a highway. Highway is a straight wide road and you can speed up and reach your destination. Even those who travel by bus wait to get on to the highway from the middle of the city so that they can reach their destination early.
I like to watch my son play car racing games in the mobile for a while where he always tries to win and he doesn’t bother which racing car is going by. Here the highway of the upright is to depart from evil. It is probably similar to speeding up on the highway overtaking other vehicles. A person who fears the Lord ought to speed up on the highway. One needs to depart from evil, escape, and overtake like those racing cars.
When we go on a highway, we have our own path, we do not go as we want as we are aware that if we go in the wrong way we may run into accidents. We need to stay in the path to keep our soul safe and we need to preserve it from every evil, so that we may be faultless in the sight of our Heavenly father.
“ looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
We need to be focused on our destination, on where we are headed to and move forward on our path shunning every appearance of evil. Depart from evil, run from evil, overcome evil with good, shun evil, and hate evil. When you embrace a little of evil and count it dear, it may be any appearances of evil like watching a TV program or a live show filled with filth and not useful stuff for passing the time, or chatting on social media. Run away from evil and hide under the mighty wings of God. Give your situations to God, never forget that He will not give us more than what we could bear.
There is never a word bore/boredom in Christian walk of life. There is so much to do for the Lord. Ask the Lord, seek him what I have to do for you, and check and ask God is my life being acceptable by you. Once you are on the Highway it’s only going forward by overtaking every evil, there is no waiting or going back.
