Walk Of Life – Day 16, September 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Step In
Step In To Trust The Lord
He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. – Proverbs 16:20
Yes indeed! Most of us yearn for true happiness more than anything else in life. We stay around our family members to be happy, we plan and embark on vacation just to be happy, and so on. For however, these happiness are often momentarily. Lasting happiness belongs to those who trust in God. Ability to trust in God is within the reach of everyone, therefore the key to true happiness can be accessible by anyone who genuinely wants to be happy.
Whatever we learn, we should learn to apply it wisely. We must especially seek to properly heed God’s Word, not giving it our personal spin or unbalanced application. We must trust that God’s way works and is beneficial.
In the midst of trials, when our faith is tried, it may be hard to see the happiness God promises. But the end result of the testing of our faith is true joy.
As James wrote: “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4).
We are on a journey through life and many of us carry all these heavy burdens needlessly. If you were embarking on a long journey with all these heavy stones in your backpack, what kind of progress do you think you could make?
Jesus is inviting all of us to come to Him. The Bible says God gives grace to the humble but opposes the proud. So, we must humble ourselves, understand we cannot do it in our own strength for salvation is found in no one else; for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved, (Acts 4:12)
The song says that we are to trust and obey. Do you not know by now that obedience to God is a sign of complete surrender and trust? I obey God because I trust Him to do what He says He will do…even when it looks like He’s not doing what He said He would do. I have learned that no matter how things look in the natural God is always faithful, and that He will always do what He says He will do.
It is much easier to trust in the Lord and to be happy all the time. Come on step in to trust the Lord with all your heart and mind.
