Walk of Life – Day 17 – January, 2021 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.
NEW BEGINNINGS – NEW MERRY HEART
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22 KJV
Now-a-days both young and old depend on medicines to keep their health going in most cases. Though many take medicines still they have complaints and are not happy taking them. The word of God compares a merry heart to be a good medicine which can heal. Many as usual might have taken resolutions to start this year with all newness but often our heart does not co-operate as it gets sick often by many thoughts and worries in this world.
Everyone in this world tries to make their heart merry by indulging in various activities. People who do not know God by going to parties and making themselves glad which is just temporary. But we as believers can make our heart merry not by the worldly pleasures but by sitting in the presence of God and in the fellowship of the saints and doing the will of God.
The joy obtained in doing the work of God and the will of God makes a believer happy and keeps going. Though he/she may get discouraged and troubled at heart having a broken spirit when we go into the presence of God our brokenness can be made whole and our hearts be mended as the word of God says in Psalms 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Be it with sin, grief or troubles whatever be the reason your brokenness can be binded and dry bones can be brought to life.
This new year lets make a firm decision to keep our hearts going in the presence of God and by determining to do the will of God rejoicing always at His word and the promises.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION: Dear Lord Jesus, Please revive my heart and my spirit look deep down into my heart and know my anxious thoughts, bitterness and worries. Renew me help me to show you by having a merry heart, be though gracious unto me as I look at your countenance, let me face shine with your light. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
