Walk Of Life – Day 18, December – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Psalm 109 – When Satan Accuses, Christ Pleads

This is one of the strongest imprecatory psalms of David where he calls down curses upon his enemies. Throughout his life, he came across many people who attacked him with weapons of metal, lying tongue, accusations and curses. David’s response to all accusation was ‘Prayer’. Although he pronounced curses on his enemies, he refused to act upon them but left God to avenge on his behalf.

David struggled as his friends accused him wrongly. Like a poor man standing in the Court of Law for justice, he found himself helpless as witnesses were brought against him to prove him guilty of a sin he did not commit. Unable to fight the corrupt justice system he presents his case to the Judge of all the earth, whom he believed to do right by him.

No matter how much ever right you try to do, Satan, the accuser will use your friends, families, believers even spouses as mediums to accuse you of wrong doings so that your heart is filled with dismay and you get discouraged to do what God has called you to act upon. But do not loose heart, for you have an advocate who pleads for you even before the case has gone against you.

A small prayer done by Lord Jesus enabled Peter to establish God’s will when Satan indented to shive him like wheat, Luke 22: 31,32. When God chose Joshua the son of Jehozadak to be a part of rebuilding the temple, Satan opposed him before God. He brought all the wrong doings of his past and tried to stop God’s purposes for his life. God does not choose his vessel of honour because of its goodness or merit, for everyone like Joshua is like a burning stick snatched from the fire of destruction. He chooses them irrespective of their weakness because it is his will to save them and cleanse them. And when these imperfect vessels determine to walks in his ways, He will place them as people symbolic of things to come, Zechariah 3.

So, with a joyful heart let us rejoice in the Branch, Jesus Christ whom God has placed at your right hand to put to shame Satan who condemns you and set your heart to prayer, “for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
