Walk of Life – Day 18 – September 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs

It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgement. Prov 18:5

King Solomon, out of the wisdom that God had bestowed on him has mentioned about favoritism in this verse.  There are many things in the Bible which are abominable to God and few things which are not good.  One of those things is not to show any partiality towards the people you like especially when you get a chance to give your opinion.  Our God is not a respecter of persons.  He is righteous in judgment and all His ways are right.

It is not right to show our favoritism to persons who have helped us in time past or even to people who were good to us or our friends though they are wrong.  Only the Lord can forgive sins or any wrongs that a person has done.  So it would be a wise thing not to cover up other’s mistakes and join with them by wrong judgement and becoming accountable to God.   The word of God says let your yes be yes and nay nay.  So if we have to show favoritism, we may also fall into the trap of lies and false promises.

When two women came with a child claiming to be theirs,  King Solomon gave a righteous judgement by testing them with divine wisdom. God helped him to judge wisely.  Wisdom comes from God.  God takes delight in people who seek wisdom and who choose wisdom in every walk of their life.  If you judge unjustly, people who are watching would have a wrong notion and may mislead them in faith.  Let us call a spade a spade.  It may be difficult but in whatever situation you are, always judge based on the Word of God. Is this right? Are they doing the right thing? Never judge based on who is doing but based on what is being done. Will God approve of the act? If you feel the Lord will not approve, do not support. It may be anyone, your parents, your best friends, someone you really admire. Never be afraid to stand up for what is true and right. Never accept any appearance of evil just because the person doing it is someone known or familiar.

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. James 4:17

Teens or children never understand why their parents say no to certain things.  You may not understand now but later in life you will.  It would be wise to obey your parents  so that you can become a blessing.

“Stand up for the right even if you stand alone”

“I would rather die dying for what is right than live passively amidst all that is wrong.”- Suzy Kassem

“Wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it, Right is right even if no one is doing it”

Do not show favoritism. Do not be one who accepts favoritism and enjoys it silently. If you really feel something is not right, never fear to speak up.
