Blessing of Honesty
Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool. Proverbs 19:1
Being honest is one’s decision and it can be made as one’s life style. The terms Honesty, being faithful, and loyal more or less mean the same. There are many verses which speak on the same. God is faithful. Because of His faithfulness and truth we are alive to this day. However we who follow Christ are called the children of light and are expected to shun away evil, depart from evil, run away from evil. The verse above states clearly that a dishonest person is compared to a fool and a honest person to a poor person.
In the world there is no place for honesty, in each and every area there is dishonesty be it business, schools, in families, now it has entered the believers as well as an angel of light. An honest person is said to be poor as there is no place for honesty and the amount of dishonesty is so great that few people who are honest are looked down and are despised because of their honesty. Psalm 37th chapter clearly states the difference between a wicked person and a godly person who trusts and commits his ways to the Lord by being honest. The one who delights in the Lord is committed in doing that which pleases the Father in heaven. A person who is faithful in little is made in charge of greater things.
The just shall live by faith, though a person suffers on this earth for his honesty is certain to receive his reward in eternity. Our God is never indebted to us for all that we do unto Him. Even for a little act of faithfulness toward Him he is going to reward us, I always get reminded of this verse Matthew 10:42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” Lord Jesus had announced a reward for those who care a little about the God’s disciples how much more would we be rewarded if we are faithful to the Lord and make it as our way of life.
Honest men of God who are burdened to proclaim the good news and desire their brethren to find the true way to escape from the hell fire are badly beaten up, tortured, and are killed. Those who are honest are doubted in todays world because the good is termed as bad and bad as good in todays society. In such a wicked world, if we are determined to do God’s will there is suffering but God had assured us of his rewards in heaven to the one who overcome and also to the one who is faithful:
To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Revelation 3:21
…Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10b
Prayer:
Lord Jesus help me to be faithful until death like Stephen though he underwent suffering he stood for you. We are in the end days where the world is in utter chaos help me to trust in you honestly and sincerely. Never to leave your hand in times of trials and tribulations. Help me to wait for the reward you have kept in store for me than the temporary rewards on earth. Help me I pray in Jesus name.
