Walk Of Life Day 19- May, 2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs. MAY
MAY WE WALK IN THE COUNSEL OF THE LORD.
Proverbs 19:21 “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”
This verse reminds us of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the ‘Wonderful Counselor’ as mentioned in Isaiah 9:6. We as the children of God travel in this world as pilgrims. We often wage many wars on the spiritual battle field. We happen to come across many such situations which catch us clueless and confused. This is an undeniable fact that no child of God can walk through all these all alone without the help of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sometimes, it appears as if we could handle everything so easily and we need not take God’s help or advice. However, we end up messing up everything and then come to His rescue. When the Israelites were on their way to Canaan, they came across a very small city called Ai. When Joshua sent his people to spy over the land, they come with a very positive report saying the entire army is not required to defeat Ai, only few would do. Joshua gave ear to their report and followed, but Israelites were defeated. They ran from the people of Ai. This troubled Joshua a lot and then he sought the counsel of God. Then God showed them Achan the cause for their defeat. What if Joshua depended on God’s counsel the very next moment whe he heard the report from his people? God would have stopped them and would have showed the sin of Achan, thereby they could be saved from defeat.
This is what we do most of the time. We depend on our own wisdom, our calculations, words from people around us. When things do not go as we expect, we get depressed and then question the Lord or seek Him for His guidance and counsel.
Imagine you have a dollar in your pocket. You have gone out on a hot summer day. You want a drink very badly. Do you sit there and wait for some kind hearted man to donate a dollar for you to buy a drink?
When we have the wonderful counsellor ‘the Lord Jesus Christ’ available for us all the time, why do we take own decisions or hired suggestions which only makes us defeated and depressed?
My dear friend, let us run to the living God who has got a very good counsel for you and me. His counsel makes us walk on the right path. His counsel keeps us safe and helps us to live in peace.
May we all truly walk in the counsel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
