Walk of Life – Day 20, February 2021 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – Blessed!

The Blessing of Blessed Children

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7

All of us are familiar with the word integer. All of us have learnt it in high school that an integer is a whole number. It represents something whole or complete. Integrity originates from this word meaning being true or authentic to one’s code of beliefs. You follow a set of moral standards and do not deter from it. You maintain a high level of honesty and are always true to yourself and to the Lord.

The Bible says the just man walks in integrity and his children are blessed after him. If you want the blessing of having your children blessed, the condition is plain and clear…be a just person.

Here are five beautiful characteristics of a righteous or just person.

  1. STEP UP – Be the person who initiates, never think this is not my job. We need to people of action. It is very easy to passively sit and think that this is not what I need to do. When you need to step in and do something for the Lord, it is very important to do it. In the life of Queen Esther, “Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, ‘Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?’” Esther 4:13-14 (NASB). The Lord has placed us wherever we are not to be posting pictures on social media but to help in the furtherance of His kingdom. To miss an assignment of the Lord’s kingdom just to be caught up in our own is one of life’s greatest tragedies. The whole nation was grateful that Esther stepped in and stood up for the nation after Mordecai rebuked her.  Their lives were spared. How many souls can be spared in the culture where we live today when we choose to step up to service, even if it involves sacrifice?
  2. SPEAK OUT – Silence in the midst of sin is sin. We tend to ignore the things going around us just to remain in a safe zone. Better is open rebuke than love that is concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.  Proverbs 27:5,6. Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the afflicted and needy. – Proverbs 31:8,9 Today we need people who can speak up for what is right. Today, we have compromised over so many issues and everyone has now kind of justified that wrong things are right. Sin has become so casual to us that it no longer seems like sin. The Lord wants you to speak up when you see something is not according to the Word of God.
  3. STAND STRONG – When you do what is right, you will be criticized, attacked, challenged, and mocked at. Stand strong in the Lord. Do not budge, do not give in to the viles of the enemy. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. – I Cor 15:58
  4. STAY HUMBLEAlways esteem others better that yourself no matter how great you become. Spiritual pride today has become a trend. I know the Lord, I obey the Lord and slowly pride begins to set in. Remember the Lord hates pride. He dwelleth with one of a humble and a contrite spirit. “You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. I Peter 5:5 to 7″
  5. SERVE THE KING – The Lord Jesus is the One you should serve. Seek first His kingdom and all these things will be added to you.

If you live a just life, a life of integrity, hold these values dear to you, The Lord promises that your children will be blessed. Your being true to the Lord will result in the Lord blessing your children abundantly.
