Walk of Life – July 2021 – Day 20 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – Be Diligent

Be Diligent to be Faithful

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Proverbs 20:6

“He was faithful to Him who appointed Him . . . Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant . . . but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.”- Hebrews 3:2-6 NASB

Faithfulness…a quality that is highly desired. We all long to one day be able to meet the Master and to hear His voice saying “Well done, my good and faithful servant”. A faithful person is one who is true to duty. A faithful man is one who is true to principle. A faithful man is one who is true to his word. A faithful man is one who will not accept bribes. A faithful man is one who is not easily deterred.

Moses was faithful in all His house. Moses obeyed the Lord implicitly. He saw Him face to face. He faithfully fulfilled his duties as a servant of God. The pattern of the tabernacle given to Moses was followed till the minutest detail. It is so beautiful how God gives clear-cut instructions. The colors, the fabric, the materials used, Moses was in a desert remember! But every single little detail was followed. If Moses was to have a performance appraisal it would be the highest. Not one thing that the Lord said he did not follow. No questions, only obedience. Moses was true to himself and to the Lord. He had his own weaknesses but he kept his word.

Keeping your word is the most important thing in today’s world. If you commit to something, do it no matter what. That speaks a lot about your character. Do what you say. Practice what you preach. The Lord is faithful. He will never fail you or forsake you. If we are imitating Christ, we also need to be faithful. Whether it is work at home, or at office or in the house of God, be faithful. Do it to the best of your ability. The Lord looks at your motives. If you promise to be somewhere at a particular time, do not delay. If you say you will do something, do it and complete it. We all need to learn this valuable lesson. People weigh you by your faithfulness. Even if you fail once, you may be branded that you never keep your word. Be trustworthy. Be honest. Be a person of high integrity. Then the Lord will surely reward you.

“Be faithful in small things, because it is in them that your strength lies” Mother Teresa
