Psalm 119

The longest psalm in the Holy Bible, consists of 176 verse which are grouped into 22 groups, having 8 verses each.

Aleph (1-8):

• These 8 verses extol the importance of the law of the Lord, His ways and His righteousness.
• Walking in the ways of the Lord will help us in not doing iniquity.
• Respecting God’s commandments protects us from being ashamed.
• Learning God’s righteous judgments help us to praise Him with an upright heart.

Beth (9-16):

• The next 8 verses of this group speak about the Word of God.
• We can cleanse our ways by heeding to the Word of God and doing according to it. The word of God helps us to walk uprightly without making us fall into sin.
• As we fill our hearts with God’s word, we cannot commit sin.

Gimel (17-24):

• There are many wondrous things hidden in the word of God. Our prayer to God while reading His word should be,” Lord, please open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your Holy Word.”
• When people go to a strange land, the first thing they try to learn is the rules and regulations of that land, what is acceptable and what is offensive. It is to have a safe stay at that place without any troubles. We ought to understand that we are strangers on this earth. We are the children of God, which makes us the citizens of heaven, who are here to travel for a while. While we do so, we require the commandments to have a worthy travel, which we find in the word of God. God’s word is a perfect guide to help us travel in the world. Whatever the situation could be, seeking for God’s guidance in His word would never disappoint us.

Our Lord Jesus never turns us down when we approach Him for His help. He is so loving God, a God who speaks. When we have a desire to keep His word, He is sure to help and guide you in all ways. God’s ways are perfect, clean and free of sin. Let us seek for His ways and His Word in our day to day lives and be blessed.
