Walk of Life, Day 21 April 2022, Thoughts On Hope On Resurrection Of Christ

Hope Of Eternal Home
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2, 3

Home is a place where one lives permanently. Every living creature need a home to live as it provides shelter and protection. Your identity is always verified with your house address. So, one builds huge houses as he/she thinks that earth is their true home.

  • God also provided a beautiful home on earth for his creation, the Garden of Eden. It was a permanent address sanctified by God so that he can have daily fellowship with his creation. By eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve disobeyed God. In order to make atonement of sin, the first animal sacrifice was made by God. For “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” Hebrews 9:22. Due to sin, God could no longer be present there. After being banished from the garden, man lived a nomadic life. He made his home in caves, rock shelters, built tents and huts to live in. Later man learned to build houses using mammoth ribs, hide, stone, metal, bamboo, clay, lime plaster, mud bricks and glazed bricks. But God could not have fellowship with man in any of these houses. For no construction made by man could be holy enough for God to dwell in it.
  • But God longed to have fellowship with man. “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand any who seek God.” Psalm 14:2. He found Abraham and called him to live a righteous life according to his instructions. Abraham obeyed God and “by faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.  For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Hebrews 11: 9,10
  • To keep his covenant and to see that Abraham’s descendants would live righteously in the promised land God gave his people set of rules to follow. He instructed Moses, his prophet to make a tabernacle where the ark of the Covenant would be kept. God’s presence once again dwelled among men.
  • Many years later the temple of God was built by King Solomon on Mount Moriah. God continued to dwell among His chosen people till they sinned against him by worshipping idols. God’s presence was once again lost to mankind till Lord Jesus was born into this world.
  • Lord Jesus told his disciples of God’s plan of restoration. He assured that He is going to the Father to prepare a home for them. He mentioned of mansions in heaven as God’s plan of eternal home was not only for his disciples but also for the multitudes of people from every tribe, language and nation who were yet to know Christ. He promised that He will return to take all his people to their real home – Heaven where we would finally dwell with our maker.

As the song goes “Heaven Is A Wonderful Place, Filled With Glory And Grace. I Want To See My Fathers Face, Yes Heaven Is A Wonderful Place.” Apostle John saw glimpses of Heaven in a vision written in the Book of Revelation. But we truly cannot imagine what God has prepared for those who love Him.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinthians 1: 20-22
