Walk of Life – Day 21 – February 2021 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs
The Blessing of the Lord being in Control
In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him. Proverbs 21:1
I love to visualize this verse. The heart of every ruler, every one in power, in fact, the heart of every human being is in the Lord’s hands. He is at the steering wheel. Each of these hearts is like a stream of water which He can turn in favor of those who please him. It is such a precious blessing if you please the Lord.
Have you dealt with a difficult boss who does not ever seem to acknowledge your work?, a teacher who always likes the student sitting next to you more than you? in-laws who never seem to understand how much ever you try to do the right thing? family members who always give preference to others over you? Face the fact…all of us have difficult people in our lives. Life would be too boring without them but we all struggle dealing with them. Whenever I go to an interview, whenever I meet someone I know is not very favorable toward me, I claim this verse. Lord, this person’s heart is like a stream of water in your hands, now turn it in the direction thou wilt… and I have never been disappointed. Most of the blessings have a clause attached to it…he channels toward all those who please Him.
We need to keep asking this question before we do anything. Is this pleasing to the Lord? Will the Lord take pleasure in what I am doing. We are all so grounded and rooted in God’s Word that we definitely know if what we are doing is right or not. Its just that many a times we are not bold enough to do the right thing for fear of men. We tend to please men more than we please the Lord and many a time, lose our blessing. DO not try to please everyone…it is impossible. You cannot please everyone you come in contact with. Instead, obey the Lord’s Word, be true to your conscience, those who agree, great…those who do not, it is still fine because ultimately you know you are doing the right thing and that is all that matters. Never live for the applause of men…do not even try, today they will clap for you, tomorrow they will slander you. Instead live for the applause of the Lord, one day I should hear, well done my child and that should be all that would matter! How do I please Him?
- Fear the Lord – But the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalm 147:11
- Have faith in HIM always – And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6
- Always strive to do His will – Not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, Ephesians 6:6
- Never keep back from doing good – Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:15,16
Lord I want you to be in control of my life. help me to please you in whatever I do and be conscious that you are always there for me working everything for my good.
