Walk Of Life- Day 22, December 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
JESUS CHRIST – OUR DEFENDER
For the LORD will plead their cause, and plunder the soul of those who plunder them. Proverbs 22:23
A verse much closer to everyone’s heart is “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31. This is the greatest assurance and comfort for every child of God. Jesus Christ defends us in every situation. The man of God who have experienced God more as his defender is King David. There are many words that he uses to describe God Defending him.
Shield – But thou, O LORD, [art] a shield for me (Psalm 3:3)
Refuge – God / God of Jacob is our refuge (Psalm 46:1, 7,11)
Rock and Fortress – The Lord is my Rock and Fortress (Psalm 18:2, 13:3)
Shelter – He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
All the above terms and verses reflect that David had been always depending on the Lord for his protection. God Almighty has always been defending him continually and Psalm 121 is a complete reflection of his understanding.
It’s not only David even Moses has experienced the way His God defended him or else he would not have taken a drastic decision of coming out of the Egyptian kingdom and all through his 120 years of his life is a complete example of being defended by God and Psalm 91 is a gist of it.
Let me tell you now, we are more blessed and privileged than David and Moses as they had been given physical protection, whereas we are defended both physically and spiritually.
1 John 2:1,2 says “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.] He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins — and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.
JESUS is our defender. He cleanses us, washed us and forgave all our sins and after that it is mandatory that we should not sin again. But everyone will stand with me to confess that we have fallen after our born again experience a number of times. GOD is not shocked by human behavior. He has seen it all in advance. He didn’t forgive us at one time to later say, “Look what they did now! If I would have known they would go and do that, I would have never forgiven them.” His forgiveness is available to us now.
To people who are feeling guilty and condemned, John offers reassurance. They know they have sinned, and Satan “the accuser” in Rev12:10, is demanding the death penalty for them. When you feel this way, don’t give up hope the best defence attorney in the universe is pleading your case. JESUS CHRIST, your advocate, your defender, is the Judge’s Son. He has already paid the penalty for you. You can’t be tried for a case that GOD has removed from the docket. United with the power and authority of JESUS CHRIST, you are safe with him. Don’t be afraid to ask CHRIST to plead your case he has already won it (see Romans 8:33-34; Hebrews 7:24-25).
We may think that our sin sets God against us. But remember GOD’s love is so great that in His love, He went to the ultimate measure to make us able to stand in the face of His holy righteousness. Through JESUS we save and clean our sin in the cross.
Softly and tenderly He’s calling you back to Him. Rejoice for He is your DEFENDER, who is pleading for your sins, for the injustice that has been done to you.
