Walk Of Life – Day 22 March 2022 – March With The Words Of Jesus Christ

March Being Faithful To Your Spouse

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.” Matthew 5: 27-30

The every reason God gave mankind the gift of freewill is to have fellowship with him. He had thousands of angelic army by his side, yet he felt dissatisfied, so he created the world with all its beings and chose to make man in His own image. God gave man the responsibility of taking care of the Garden of Eden. When He saw that man was alone and needed a companion to help, he created woman as a completion of his creative work in this world. He created woman from the rib bone of man and not dust. This He did to symbolize that through marriage a man and woman would become as one flesh.

The key to successful marriage is love and faithfulness. Marriage although gives man and woman different roles, the main goal is to honor God in keeping faith with one another. Only when you bind love and faithfulness around your neck and write them on the tablet of your heart, you will receive favor and good name with God and man. Proverbs 3:3,4. My memory goes back to the sermon of my wedding where the pastor mentions that Christianity is the only religion where divorce is not accepted by God. When people asked Lord Jesus, if one can divorce his wife, He replied in Matthew 19:8,9 that “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” The bondage of marriage can only be broken if there is breach of faith between man and woman.

The initial stage of a married life is always filled with love and joy. Couples eagerly wait to spend time with one another. But as responsibility increases you tend to get tired and often lose patience and prefer to have space between one another. To fill this emptiness some take wrong turns by making unhealthy friendships with the opposite sex. Although we often accept physical unholiness as adultery, Lord Jesus points out that even looking at a person lustfully or with wrong intentions is like committing adultery in your heart. This unholiness takes you away from God’s spirit.

Further Lord Jesus says if anything in your life leads you to sin you need to pluck it out. When He gave example of an eye He did not literally mean physical eye but the root of sin in your heart. It is better to sacrifice material things and crucify impure thoughts than to lose our place in heaven.

Lord commands us in Leviticus 20:26 “Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.” Among the billions of people on earth, God in his mercy has chosen us to bring glory to His name. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2.
