Walk of Life, Day 23 April 2022, The Words of Jesus on The Kingdom of God
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
When it is too sunny, we feel thirsty and would like to sip cool drinks and drink water often. Due to the increase in the temperatures specially in countries like India though we drink water, very soon we are thirsty again. Jesus was also thirsty on the cross. Water is good for the body and refreshes the body which will perish one day.
Jesus said whoever comes to Him will never go hungry, and whoever believes in him will never go thirsty.
When we go into Gods presence and listen to Him with an attentive heart and ears we will never go hungry, God will satisfy our souls by His word. The word that is planted in our hearts replenishes the soul. The word of God is powerful and is compared to fire, water, mirror, hammer, and sword in the Bible. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:2 We should be hungry for Gods word to be filled by His word. I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. Psalm 81:10
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6
When we have the hunger and thirst for God, His word and to obey His voice, God will help us and fill us. When we are satisfied by the spirit of God, His word, and His presence, we will not be thirsty for the things of this world.
Believe in the Lord, all things are possible with God. Many times we forget this and doubt fear and unbelief creeps in unawares into our hearts we need to fight back in faith against the fiery darts of the enemy. “…take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Ephesians 6:16 Declare Gods word and His promises that “With God all things are possible”.
Be hungry and thirsty to win souls to quench their thirst and imbibe the right hunger. The hunger and thirst for the worldly things such as fame and name will soon perish; the thirst for the things of God is eternal which will be profitable for eternity.
“But now, speaking to those to whom the Lord has given to understand his meaning, let me say, our Saviour uses very simple figures. Think of his calling himself bread! How condescending, that the commonest article upon the table should be the fullest type of Christ! Think of his calling our faith an eating and a drinking of himself! Nothing could be more instructive; at the same time nothing could better set forth his gentleness and humility of spirit, that he does not object to speak thus of our receiving him. God be thanked for the simplicity of the gospel. The longer I live the more I bless God that we have not received a classical gospel, or a mathematical gospel, or a metaphysical gospel; it is not a gospel confined to scholars and men of genius, but a poor man’s gospel, a ploughman’s gospel; for that is the kind of gospel which we can live upon and die upon. It is to us not the luxury of refinement, but the staple food of life. We want no fine words when the heart is heavy, neither do we need deep problems when we are lying upon the verge of eternity, weak in body and tempted in mind. At such times we magnify the blessed simplicity of the gospel. Jesus in the flesh made manifest becomes our soul’s bread. Jesus bleeding on the cross, a substitute for sinners, is our soul’s drink. This is the gospel for babes, and strong men want no more. ” – Charles Spurgeon
Dear Lord, help me to feed on You, to know more of You, to be filled with You and to reflect you in and through my life. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
