Walk Of Life – Day 23, December 2021 – Lord Jesus, Our Messiah

Lord Jesus, Our Messiah

“Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; – Daniel 6:25

The word “Messiah” comes from a Hebrew word meaning “the anointed one” or “the chosen one.” It embodies the Jewish hope of a coming deliverer predicted in Old Testament prophecy, which was fulfilled in Jesus the Messiah. Many of the prophecies don’t specifically use the word “Messiah,” though they came to be understood as references to this future deliverer.The prophecies stretch back to the very beginning. In Genesis 3:15, while speaking to the serpent who deceived Adam and Eve, God declares, “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Messiah is the one who delivers and in simple terms the one who stands in place of you and wins for you. Quite not sure which dictionary but in one the example for Messiah is given as The English teacher who argues with the headmistress regarding the regular uniform standard and wins it for you.

We as sinners, deserved to have our eternal destination at hell. Satan, laid his red carpet to take us a long way in his direction. We had no one to bring us back or restore our lost happiness, lost privilege or our lost treasure. We lived in the clutches of sin, addictions, slavery. bondage and darkness driving closer and closer to the target of Satan.

Praise God! Jesus Christ came into the world to save us and to restore us back into His divine path. He argued for us with the heavenly Father to save us. He wanted all of us to inherit that eternal treasure. When the Father asked Jesus whom to send to redeem the lost mankind, Lord Jesus Christ offered Himself. He came into this world as the messiah, giving us hope as the song’s lyrics goes like this

Come hear the story of Love Divine
As earth is invaded with Holy Light
Promise of ages, now flesh and bone
Jesus, Messiah, our hope has come
Jesus, Messiah, our hope has come

Few characteristics of the Jewish Messiah:

1. He will be a servant of God: “Behold, my servant, whom I uphold, mine elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.” (Isaiah 42:1).

2. He will build the kingdom of God: “He shall build a house for my name.” (II Samuel 7:13).

3. He will be a national hero who will vanquish the enemies of Israel: “In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely.” (Jeremiah 33:16);
4. His kingdom will be eternal: “And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.” (II Samuel 7:13).

5. He will have wonderful abilities: “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:2).

And there are much more and all these are found and fulfilled in Lord Jesus Christ, our Messiah.
