Walk Of Life – Day 23, October 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Psalm 75 – It Is The Lord Who Exalts And Brings Low

The psalm is composed by Asaph who was a great singer and musician of David and Solomon’s era and was prophetic in his musical composition. This is titled to the Chief Musician set to the tune of “Do not destroy” which was used by King David in Psalm 57-60.

Recollect your past Blessings

  • Asaph starts this psalm by praising God with gratitude in his heart for his love, goodness, mercy, and wisdom that He shares with his children. To remember his mighty acts and to retell the history of salvation gives great comfort to those who are afflicted. To know that God is near to his people and is working among them gives strength to face any crisis one might be in.

Justice at the Appointed Time

  • Injustice in the world makes us think that God has turned away from his people who are suffering. Asaph prophetically tells us that the judgment of God might seems to terry a little because He does not want anyone to perish but all to come to repentance. When the given opportunity to the disobedient, ungodly and the wicked to correct themselves lapses, God will rise to judge the unjust generation.
  • When Abraham was told that Sodom and Gomorrah will be destroyed, he knew that God will do the right thing. This hope strengthened him to reason with God to save these cities for the sake of the righteous. God had to destroy these cities for the appointed time had come for his judgment. By saving Lot and his family, God did right by Abraham but the wicked He did not spare.

Disobedient will be Replaced

  • When Israel’s first appointed king, Saul disobeyed, God’s spirit left him and a small shepherd boy, David was anointed to be the next king of Israel. Till God brought Saul down from his place of honor, he was tormented by the evil spirits which made him weak, sick and desperate enough to go to a witch whom he had banished from his kingdom with godly wisdom.
  • The fall is inevitable when his children rely on their own wisdom rather then simply obeying God’s law and the order He has set for us to be followed. Lord said to Samuel, “I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” 1 Samuel 15:11.

So then, let’s make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace by our Heavenly Father. For, “God will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.” Psalms 75:10
