Walk of Life – Day 23 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – Blessed!
Blessing of a Future Hope
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18
The fear of the unknown is one of the greatest fears faced by man. The fear of death is also a very common fear. The fear of what may happen tomorrow can cripple you so much that you may not be able to live today to the fullest. Fear and faith or hope are like water and oil. They can never be mixed. If you have fear you will neither have faith nor hope. It is either this or that, they cannot co-exist.
So to believe that you have a future hope, you should not have any fears. Lay all your fears at the cross. The Lord Jesus bore all your sins on His body so that you will no longer have the fear of sin or death so that you will be free. “O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory?” Do you have that blessed hope that one day you will see the Lord Jesus and all your loved ones face to face.
Do not be envious of sinners, we all are generally very upset when we see the wicked prosper, when we see wrong doers faring better than most of us, but this verse says, do not be envious because you, unlike them have a hope and a future. You have an eternal hope that you will be in heaven and see your loved ones after you die. Death is not the end, death is the beginning of a new life with Jesus. Love this song:
I can only imagine, What it will be like, When I walk by your side
I can only imagine, What my eyes would see, When your face is before me
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory, What will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus, Or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in your presence, To my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, Will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine When that day comes
And I find myself Standing in the sun
I can only imagine When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you.
To be firm in your hope is to let go of all your doubts and fears. Even many believers have this question, what will actually happen after death. Will I truly meet the Lord. If you have accepted Christ in your heart and if you are living a life pleasing to the Lord, there should be no fear, there should be no doubt because Christ is your hope and your joy.
Always commit the unknown future to a known God. We are living in tough times. No one seems to know what will happen tomorrow. But whatever it is my God is in control and He will give me a secure future whether in this world or in the world to come, my future is secure. My hope is of everlasting life in the most beautiful place that the world can ever imagine.
“Some of you have been stunned by the sudden passing of a consecrated person—a godly pastor, a devout missionary or a saintly mother. You have stood at the open grave with tears coursing down your cheeks and have asked, “Why, O God, why?”
Allow me to assure you that the death of the righteous is no accident. Do you think that the God whose watchful vigil notes the sparrow’s fall and who knows the number of hairs on our heads would turn His back on one of His children in the hour of peril? With Him there are no accidents, no tragedies and no catastrophes as far as His children are concerned.
Death to the Christian is the exchanging of a tent for a building. Here we are as pilgrims or refugees, living in a frail, flimsy home—subject to disease, pain and peril. But at death we exchange this crumbling, disintegrating tent for a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. The wandering wayfarers come into their own at death and are given the title to a mansion that will never deteriorate or crumble. When D.L. Moody was dying, he looked up to Heaven and said, “Earth is receding; Heaven is opening. This is my coronation day.” Yes, death is the Christian’s coronation, the end of conflict and the beginning of glory and triumph in Heaven.” – Billy Graham.
