Walk of Life, Day 24, August, 2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs. Right Attitude.
The right attitude to build a house.
Proverbs 24:3,4 “Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
We all might be aware of the story of a frustrated contractor, who desires to get a reward for all his hard work, instead his boss gives him another contract with special specifications, saying all the material could be of any cost, there is no limit. To vent out his anger and disappointment in some way, he uses all cheap material of low quality to build the house. The contractor cries in despair when he receives the keys of the house as a gift from his boss. Only if he had known it earlier that the house was for him, he would have used all expensive material.
Many are like this frustrated contractor these days. We, as the children of God ought to be building two houses, one is our self spiritually and the other is our family. When we are spiritually built, it does not take much effort to build our family. These days we see many broken families. The reason for these broken families is the brokenness in their spirit.
In Matthew 7:24-27 we read the parable of the wise and the foolish builders. The wise man’s building withstood the storm, flood, because its foundation was laid on the rock, whereas the building whose foundation was laid on the sand collapsed. We know it very well that the rock is the Lord Jesus Christ, on whom we ought to lay our foundation. However, we fail in choosing the material to build our house.
There are three main ingredients to build house as mentioned in Proverbs 24:3&4: Wisdom, Understanding& Knowledge. Using these ingredients we can build a happy and a peaceful house. These ingredients are found only in the Lord Jesus Christ and nowhere else.
What have you been using to build yourself and your family? Have you given the contract to Satan who is using doubt, narrow mindedness, confusions, ego, and mockery to build your house, only to collapse in the end?
Dear friend, it is high time we possess this right attitude to build a house by submitting the contract into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ who builds with His wisdom, establishes with His understanding and fills us and our family with precious and pleasant riches by His knowledge.
