Walk of Life, Day 28 – January 2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.
NEW BEGINNINGS: NEW ABUNDANCE.
Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.”
Is there anyone who dislikes blessings? One would want to have blessings in abundance. Many think that they are ready to do anything to be blessed. However, in most of the cases, they refrain themselves to do something, instead they really wish to receive blessings without any effort of theirs.
The Word of God promises us many blessings, but only to those who are willing to work for the Lord. Not every work receives blessing, this is because God is searching for faithful workers. As we already know that God has different means to get his work done. If He is choosing you to do the work, it means that He wants to see How you do the work assigned to you.
Once there lived a reputed builder. He brought good name for the company in which he worked. During the tough times, he stood by his company, by not leaving it. Instead, he worked hard to bring his company back to the field. Despite of doing such great hard work, he did not receive much increment. One day he was vexed up with all the work he had done and decided to go to the head of the office and ask him for a good appraisal. As soon as he put his desire before the head, he was given a project file and was asked to finish it. The builder was very angry but he accepted to do the work. The builder was told that this land is a pretty good land, and the house to be built is for a very important person in the company. So, he was asked to spend to any extent and make the house beautiful. The builder wanted to take revenge and used all low-cost material and constructed the house in a very improper manner. Within a month, the builder handed over the keys to the head of the office. His boss was astonished at the quick work. He smiled and gave back the house keys to the builder and said, “Here is your appraisal. That land was purchased for you and I wanted you to build it magnificently as you always do.” The builder felt very ashamed and left the place.
We can identify ourselves to that builder. In our regular work, as well as in our spiritual life, we tend to concentrate much on the end result, rather than focusing on the current procedure. We are much accustomed to the ‘Fast’ culture. We want everything to happen immediately without any delay. In haste, we overlook many mistakes that we ourselves commit and at the end repent as we do not get a chance to repair.
As a child of God, we need to have patience. Patience plays a key role in success. Patience teaches us many things, protects us from taking wrong step. When you are patient and wait for the Lord Jesus to instruct and to guide you, you will be on the right path. You will never do a thing that would present you as an unfaithful worker before him.
When you are in a hurry, you happen to cheat or overlook few mistakes and become an unfaithful servant. So, it is important for a believer to examine how faithful he is in his work.
We are accountable for all that we do on this earth. When I was studying, I did not like the stream in which I received a seat. I was a little disappointed. One day I heard a man of God delivering a message in the youth meeting. He said, “There are many who do not seek God’s guidance while they choose their career. Finally, when they go along with the flow and join in a course, they say this is not God’s will and leave umpteen backlogs and destroy their career. They blame God in the end. As a child of God, you need to understand that God is going to ask you an account of your studies as well. In whichever stream or field, you are in, you need to be faithful in it. You cannot neglect your study and get a backlog.” This made me to start loving my study and when I stepped forward to be faithful, it was a very small attempt from my end, but still God has blessed me throughout the course beyond my imagination.
This did not happen overnight; it took many years. When you determine to be faithful in glorifying God through your work, He will surely bless you beyond your imaginations. When you receive that blessing, you will be spellbound.
My dear friend, are you searching for shortcuts in life? Are you being unfaithful in your study or workplace? God seeks faithfulness in us to bless us abundantly. Let us determine to be faithful in all that we do; God will surely help us and reward us with abundant blessings.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION: Dear Lord Jesus, I determine to be faithful in all that I do from now. I will always keep this in mind that I am answerable about every single thing that I do. I will never go forward based upon my instincts, but I will wait patiently till I receive confirmation and direction from you. When I am faithful, I believe you will bless me not just with earthly blessings but with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. Thanking you in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.
