Walk of Life, Day 29- January 2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.

NEW BEGINNINGS: NEW SAFETY

Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”

Initially when there were news spreading around the globe about the prevailing pandemic, there were few rumors on news channels which said,” Indians need not worry as this particular virus cannot survive in hot temperature.” The outbreak of pandemic was nearer to the summer season. So, people thought just a month, and after that we are ‘safe’ from the virus attack. Later, the news about vaccine, made people smile again thinking at least now they will be safe.

This is just about a pandemic, there are millions of such harms surrounding a person. How does the man prepare himself to find a safest place which could protect him from all seen and unseen harms? Is it even possible for us to be safe from every danger?

While mankind is very busy searching for safe zones, the word of God proclaims a new safety which would enlighten the minds and the hearts of the humankind regarding danger as well as safety.

Losing one’s life is considered as an ultimate danger. It is true. However, for a person losing the eternal life should be the main concern to the mankind. We read in Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

These days people are so much concerned about their earthly existence that they do not even care to think that there is a soul within them which has a harm greater than any harm that could occur to their body.

Have you made your wealth, health, intelligence as your safety measures? One can say, I live in a place which is far from natural calamities, I have got myself vaccinated for all kinds of diseases, I have sufficient and even more bank balance to look after my every need. Congratulations! Your body looks safe to some extent. What about your soul my friend? Is it safe too?

A dear friend of ours was tested positive during the initial stages of pandemic. Those were the days when the death rate was at the peak. By God’s grace he could come out of it within few weeks. One fine morning, we get a phone call saying he is no more. He happened to fall over from a place and hurt himself very badly and lost his life. So, you feel happy thinking you are saved from one peril and another takes away your life. How uncertain is man’s life!

Do not boast about the physical arrangements that you have done for yourself to live longer. There is a bitter truth waiting at a point in everyone’s life, that is, death. That is, where you soul can taste harm.

What is the harm that our soul can face? How can we save it from such harm?

In this journey of life, in the end we reach a junction where there are two ways, a way to destruction, that is, hell and a way to safety, that is, heaven. The harm that is waiting for every soul irrespective of creed, race, color is hell fire. “The wages of sin is death.” “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

The only way to save ourselves from it is to be sinless. Is it possible? Not by ourselves. That is the reason why the Lord Jesus Christ has come to this world to take our sins upon Him and shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary for the remission of our sins. When we believe in Him, He will cover us with His precious, blemish-less blood and make us appear as righteous.

Only then can we enter into the heaven. There is a song which goes this way,” No you can’t get to heaven without SALVATION.” My dear friend, there is no use for you to give away your everything to save your flesh and blood. No matter how hard you try, you can never escape death, a bitter truth. However, there is way to save yourself from that eternal hell fire. That way is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do not put your trust in materialistic things, do not make them your refuge. Place your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who is our perfect and the safest refuge. If you put on Christ, the enemy whatever form it may attack you in, should first deal with the Lord. Only when God allows it, it can touch you.

Whatever trouble it might be, just simply trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION: Dear Lord Jesus, I bring myself under the efficacy of your precious blood. Cover me with your precious blood, I trust in you completely. You are my refuge at all times. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
