Walk Of Life – Day 30, August 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
The Lord – Our Ever-Present Help in Trouble
God is our refuge and strength always ready to help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1
Is there anyone in your life who is ever-present with you? Our WhatsApp groups are most of the time filled with prayer requests and sometimes we hardly have time to give attention to the requests or even if we read the requests we tend to take a minute for prayer. The need on the other side would be a very urgent one or important to the requestor. Prayer is the best help one can offer to God, the burden we bear is very less. No one can assure you that you may rely on me when you are in trouble.
Our Lord is our refuge and strength in times of trouble, the phrase “always ready to help” is very encouraging. The important thing is that we do not always rely on this word. We do not always go to Him for help. At times we forget to pray. This morning, my son had slight temperature, he was feeling sick, and we were already waiting for his school bus. Thoughts were running in my mind to buy medicines and how to get medicine at that particular time and whom to contact. I even went to a nearby shop asking for medicine and also an energy drink. That shop did not have the medicine. Meanwhile, ideas were flashing as to how to reach a medical store which is 2 kilometers away. However, amid all this anxiety, I forgot to pray or the first thing I should have done is to pray. Only after a while when my anxiety grew within me, I realized I should pray and ask God for His healing and help. I prayed over him and by the time he came back from school he was fine.
God is our ever-present help, he is not absent in any of our situations where no one can help us. In troubles, it is a challenge for us to either focus on the problem/trouble or focus on God. Peter was able to walk on water when he focused on God and not on the water. Let us determine to focus on God in our troubles because He is always present for us to help and be our refuge and strength.
