Walk Of Life – Day 29, September 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Step In

Step In To Gain Honour

Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor. Proverbs 29:23

Everyone wants to be loved and honoured. Our heart fills with joy and happiness when we receive any sort of honor be it in the form of praise or a gift. The word of God says that those who are humble receives honor. But, when we lift ourselves up we would be brought to humiliation. In every minute situation of our life we need to choose to be humble, in the new testament we see this verse Luke 14:10 “But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.” If we choose a better place how sad it would be to move to a lowest place. Luke 14:11 “For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Likewise in every decision of ours we need to make humble decisions and glorify God. Honour comes from the Lord alone, we need to be humble whole heartedly and just leave the rest to God so that in His time He would exalt us.

Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Our Lord is humble in heart we need to learn from Him to be truly humble from heart, some are outwardly humble or speak as if they are humble but heart is haughty God looks at our heart and not just our actions we need to bear that in mind.

We cannot steal the glory of God and ruin the mercies and grace of God by being proud for which God is very angry. If we are humble our officials at work place will like us and want to do something for us, then how much more the King of Kings, He wants to bless us for our humility. But the pride He knows from afar off He doesn’t want to hear or attend to a person who is full of himself never wanting to leave His own ways. Psalm 138:6 says “Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.” He keeps the proud at a distance and their prayers are at a distance and good works are of no use with wrong motives.

When we are really humble we would be blessed by the Lord and once our Lord blesses its blessed forever. Not regarding Jesus in every decision is Pride not projecting Jesus in every action is Pride. Let us learn from Lord Jesus to be humble through His life, death and resurrection. Jesus was never offended, He did not desire for a better place, bore guilt, shame, disgrace and also condemnation. How are we when we are tested and tried are we trying to project our humble Christ or pride filled self?
