Walk Of Life – Day 4, December 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
JESUS CHRIST – THE SHINING SUN
The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day – Proverbs 4 : 18
Even many years before the birth of Christ there are many prophecies foretold by the prophets regarding the place of His birth, time of His birth, purpose of His birth and so on. One such prophecy is told by Ezekiel 43:2 as “and behold, the glory of the God of Israel was coming from the way of the east. And His voice was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with His glory.”
it is very clear that Jesus Christ came into the world as the perfect light and there is no darkness. The utter source of light energy is from the sun and it is said that the path of the just will be like shining sun. Deuteronomy 32:4 says “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, JUST and right is he.
And mortal man cannot be more just than God which we read in Job 4:17 as
“Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
Which is also confirmed in Ecclesiastes 7:20
“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.”
We should be ever thankful to our Lord for making us to dwell in the lightness under His radiance, so that we might be called as JUST.
There is a very old Sunday school song that comes to my mind which goes like this
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I’ll be a sunbeam for Him.
If we have to be sun beam we have to approach Jesus who alone is the Shining Sun.I conclude with the Hymn written by Timothy Dudley – Smith
Christ is the shining sun of all our days,
his is the touch that sets the stars ablaze;
sight to the eyes that but for him were blind,
Christ is the Light of every Christian mind.
Christ is the Love of God to mortals shown,
Saviour and Shepherd come to claim his own;
Christ our Redeemer, at whose feet we fall;
Love of the Father at the heart of all.
Christ is the Life who gave himself to save;
lifeless he lay within the silent grave.
See! As the Easter dawn dispels the gloom,
Jesus is risen! He has burst the tomb!
Christ is the victor over death’s domains;
Christ is the King who now in glory reigns.
Jesus is Lord! And to his Name be praise:
He is the shining sun of all our days.
Oh Shining Sun! we come before your magnificent presence. Though even a small pinch of sin will be projected immensely we plead to wash away our sins completely and make us radiant and Just. In Christ’s most holy name we pray. Amen
