Walk Of Life – Day 4, February 2023 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Palm 128 –Receive Blessings From God

This is the ninth of the series of the psalm is titled ‘A Song of Ascents’. It was sung by travelers on their way to Jerusalem, usually for one of the three yearly feasts (Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles). Like the previous psalm, it has a focus on God’s work in and through the family. Everyone struggle towards living a happy, comfortable and satisfied life. Happiness is not determined by one’s physical or financial condition but by one’s spiritual condition and inner contentment which leads to healthy lifestyle and relationships. This psalm tells us how one can attain a happy and successful life.

One can attain God’s blessing by:

  • Fear the LORD – Fearing God means to take God seriously, to revere him deeply and to honor him greatly. A person must ‘fear the Lord’ and ‘walk in his ways’ living daily in obedience to the word of God. To do right, live holy life and flee from sin and feeding in the Word will ultimately help one to walk in the direction Lord Jesus has pointed you to go.
  • Obey the LORD – Fear of the Lord leads to obedience which then leads to fruitfulness in a person. What you learn from the Word, you should put it in practice, only then blessing will flow in your life. Blessing like a wife who will be like a fruitful vine and children like olive plants.

Blessing will flow out of Zion – Finally God’s blessing for his children’s faithfulness is that they will see Jerusalem prosper spiritually, economically and militarily. Jerusalem as a place or as a place where God chooses to dwells, it can be in your church, your home or your heart.

  • He will prosper you in all areas of your life if you let God to guide it.
  • He will use you for his ministry work as apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, teachers, worship leaders, cooks, house keepers, administrators, organizers, technicians, drivers, coordinators, writers too and make your work fruitful.
  • He will extend the length of your days so that you can see your grandchildren grow and live in Christ.
  • He will let his peace rule throughout the days of your life.

This psalm tells us that God takes pleasure in blessing his children only if we do our part in just showing reverence and obeying his work without doubting nor turning to right or left. Pray that God will strengthen you to receive blessing out of Zion.
