Walk Of Life, Day 7, September 2020 Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs
“Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:” Proverbs 7:4
Sister is the term used to a very close person, a person who is close to ones heart. If we want to stay connected with our friends and relatives we make a phone call and speak to them share our good or bad, pray for them and encourage them in times of trouble through phone calls. We call out to God in prayer and seek his attention.
This verse speaks of calling out wisdom and getting acquainted to understanding. Treat wisdom as a sister who is close to our heart assuring her support always in all our trials, troubles and happy moments. When we say it with our mouth it is that we are affirming something to be true and essential. Lord Jesus Christ many times want us to ask him so that he can give us. Unless we ask and depend on God in prayer and trust God we cannot do anything on our own, when we do not seek the help of God we do not get success even if we get its for a little while and God is pleased when His children depend on Him and not on their own. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7 We ask him when we are in Him, we ask Him several things do we really understand what GOD is doing or what He is wants to do. His deeds are too marvelous and His understanding is infinite.
There are many types of wisdom in this world, everyone thinks they are wise in their own eyes they do not agree with others be it in the college work place or in church. Having the worldly information about some brother or sister some think they are wise enough to know about them. Knowledge is not wisdom. Some lift themselves up as they are self-righteous or have gone through various troubles, know some brother who is a great God servant. Some are very shrewd and think they are wise in their dealings their thoughts and actions do not match, God hates such crooked ways. God loves the upright and blesses the upright.
Word of God clearly says that “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17 We need to receive wisdom the ability to judge what is good and what is not, should come from God which has high biblical standards and not as in this world. Then it should be pure there is no mischief or deceit in Godly wisdom it is pure, like we love purity – pure milk, pure honey, pure silk, pure ghee is often words that we stress on in our day to day life whatever be it when we see the word pure we are compromised to buy the product since it is pure. Purity and Holiness are the attributes of a child of God. Purity in everything, purity in thoughts, actions, in our work, talk and the way we live which is our walk of life. Heavenly wisdom imbibes purity in us, it discerns good and bad, light and darkness, off-white and white. Wisdom doesn’t fight or seek for a upper hand it is peace loving it is not peace-breaking, it considers other more than self.
This verse James 3:17 can be taken as a wisdom-check for every believer to check if you possess such heavenly wisdom or the other way. If the score is 9 on 10 then it is equivalent to 0. We need to have 10 on 10 and its necessary for all the children of God who call on to Him and seek His face daily. A close relative is understanding, getting shunning evil and knowledge of the Holy one is understanding. Without understanding one cannot dwell in the society if a man who lacks understanding thinks he is righteous and he wants whatever he says to be done without being considerate for others. That is the reason a man who has knowledge of God and His characteristics is termed as a person who has understanding.
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Cor 2:9 We do not understand God’s greatness we need heavenly understanding to understand the ways of God and His mind.
