Walk Of Life – Day 9, July 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
The Righteous Judge
The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Psalm 7:8
King David mentions Cush, the Benjamite. While it is not clear who this is referring to, Bible scholars believe it may be Saul or Shimei. In other words, it means someone who wrongly accuses you and becomes an enemy. Saul had no solid reason to be behind David. David did him no wrong. But Saul was jealous and that led to him being behind his life. We may not have people desiring to kill us but we all have encountered people who would like to pull us down. Very often, the policy is I will not grow nor will I let you grow. We see this in all circles, even in churches. Instead of appreciating a well-trained, good qualified speaker, we find ways and means to pull them down. And when you are at the receiving end, it truly hurts like David.
God is the righteous judge. He knows our innermost thoughts and feelings. He weighs our motives. He understands our thoughts. He even knows what is going on in our subconscious mind, something we ourselves do not know. He knows me inside out. Its really surprising that knowing that, David says, Lord judge me. The thought of being brought to trial generally scares me. The thought of standing before a judge, even a worldly judge is not a very pleasant feeling. We are definitely not that blameless and faultless that I can boldly say Lord judge me. But David could. He trusted in God’s righteousness and judgement. His conscience was clear. He had wronged no one.
In New Testament days, I do not believe in my own righteousness or goodness but I trust in the completed work of the Lord Jesus Christ, which has made me blameless and just before Him. The devil cannot accuse me, My enemies cannot shame me. I am justified in Christ. I am sanctified in Christ. My God is the righteous judge. When someone wrongs me or hurts me, I trust in the Lord’s words, vengeance is mine I will repay. Like the Lord Jesus said on the cross “Father forgive them” I learn to forgive my enemies, do good to those who hate me and despitefully use me. The more I submit to His love and grace, I learn to be loving and forgiving to others. I will not hold feelings of hatred or resentment because that will destroy my own spirit. Love covereth all sins, the love showed on Calvary’s cross is poured abroad in our hearts so that we can love as Christ loved. Also, I will not judge others. I will make sure my conscience is right before the Lord. The Lord will take care.
My friend, trust wholeheartedly like David that God is the righteous judge. He is no debtor of persons. When your heart is right before Him, He will bless you accordingly. Do not be judgmental or resentful. It helps no one. Stay humble and trust in His righteous judgement.
