Walk of Life – June 1 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – FEAR NOT!

FEAR NOT! You will dwell safely

“But whoever listens to me will have security. He will be safe, with no reason to be afraid.” Proverbs 1:33

Isaiah 32:18 – “My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.”

Fear has gripped us all during these turbulent times. It is getting more and more difficult with each passing day to be strong and not to fear. When you are hospitalized with so many around you dying, with many gasping for breath, with doctors and nurses running around frantically doing all that they can do, it is natural to be afraid. There is bad news everywhere…and sometimes the attitude of people is also very upsetting. Overall these are not great times to be present in.

In all this, the Master says Fear not my child, you will dwell safely. The horse is ready for the battle…but safety lies with the Lord. The pandemic has taught us one important lesson…our times and our lives are in the Lord’s hands…we are totally helpless…no doctor, no medicine, no medical practitioner can help us unless the Lord has mercy on us. I believe strongly that being safe in the Lord is hiding one’s self in the secret place in the shadow of His mighty wings.

“Safe am I, Safe am I,
In the hollow of His hand;
Sheltered o’er, sheltered o’er
With His love forever more
No ill can harm me, No foe alarm me,
For He keeps both day and night,
Safe am I, Safe am I,
In the hollow of His hand.”

The truth is that when I am safeguarded in the secret place of the Most High, He will take care of every single storm that comes my way. It does not mean that storms will not come or sicknesses will not come, but I am safe in his care. Whatever may come my way, the Lord is in control and He will guide, lead, and safeguard. It is a child-like trust in a father’s care. Worrying or feeling scared will not help anyone. Think of yourself when you were little…did you ever worry, the same trust, the same faith, we can safely have in our Heavenly Father. He will take care yes He will. He is faithful. Like D L Moody said in the middle of a storm, if I cross this sea I will see my sister who is alive, if I do not I will see my sister in heaven. It is difficult but we all need to understand that we cannot do anything more than the Lord Jesus can do. Everything is in His hands and His alone. So FEAR NOT…HE WILL WALK ON THE WATER and come into your boat and calm the roaring waves and the raging sea. Just trust. He will keep you safe. Safe in the arms of Jesus…in this life and in the next! Always safe.

“When now in life the hard times come,
His arms are open wide;
He gives me shelter in those arms,
A loving place to hide!

Now looking toward my Heavenly home,
since death has lost it’s sting;
I’m sheltered now from all life’s storms,
Beneath My Saviour’s Wing!!”
