Walk of Life – Day 5, September 2020-Thoughts from The Book of Proverbs.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He ponders all his paths. – Proverbs 5:21
The entire chapter 5 of the book of Proverbs is entitled as “The Peril of Adultery” and its in the way of conversing with his son which can be understood from the first verse “My Son, pay attention to my wisdom and lend your ear to my understanding.” The speaker brings out the perils of being entrapped into the net of an adulterous woman and also gives a solution to the problem which is to be filled with the happiness by being true to the marriage vows.
This topic continues throughout the first twenty verses and suddenly in the verse twenty-one there is a strict warning that each and every way of man is before the eyes of the Lord and all his paths are pondered.
The chapter begins referring to a singular term but in verse 7 it refers to a plural term “My Children” which means that the words of that chapter is for everyone. Living in a world of technology it’s very much easier than ever before to slip into this dreadful way which the Lord hates to the core. Everything begins with a casual talk. Youngsters beware. Protect yourself. You are always in the danger zone.
To lay much more focus on the subject it’s not only youngsters but everyone has to be very cautious guarding ourselves with all spiritual weapons. 1Corinthians 10:12 strongly warns us “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” While some translations mention “Be Careful”. What a strong word! This particular verse doesn’t speak to an unbeliever or the one who does not give much importance to the faith he/she has chosen. Rather it speaks to firm believers, to those who have the assurance that they are standing firm.
The era in which we all live is very much complicated indeed. The Word of the Lord is preached everywhere and we get it in abundance and at the same time the distractions and the possibilities of falling down especially in that particular zone the book of Proverbs chapter 5 mentions is also in immense measure. “There is only one proof of Holy ghost in your life and that’s a holy life” writes Leonard Ravenhill in his book “Why Revival Tarries”. It’s not a measure that has to be given by any human being but by the Most Holy God.
It is indeed very easy to put on a mask in front of people even before our most intimate zone because they trust us and they don’t go through our mobiles moreover it has been well protected with all kinds of advanced passwords, finger prints, face recognition security and much more. Never ever forget that the eyes of our Lord penetrate deep within any hurdles or locks or passwords. Psalmist amazingly has understood the intimacy of God the Father as he mentions in Psalm 139: 4 “For there’s not a word on my tongue, but behold oh Lord, you know it altogether.” Our Lord’s eyes are constantly upon us. Are we giving pleasure to Him by being along with Him whenever we are alone or are we meditating on His scriptures and the revelations given to His children?
Let us introspect ourselves as when we call out the name of our Lord He should not tell us “I Know you not.”
