Understanding the True Meaning of Christmas for Little Hearts – Day 3

Bible Reading: Matthew 27:32-56

Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:21

Man sinned and Adam and Eve were sent out of the Garden of Eden. Sin separated God from man. But always remember that God loves the sinner. There had to be a solution to reconcile God and man.

In Old Testament days, whenever someone committed a sin, they would come to the tabernacle or the temple and offer a sacrifice. This sacrifice could be doves, a lamb, or a goat as the family could afford. There were clear instructions on how this needs to be done which you will understand if you read the Book of Leviticus in the Bible. But there had to be a permanent solution. So God the Father decided to send His son the Lord Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus did not commit any sin, He knew no sin, but He bore your sins and my sins on Himself. He died the most cruel death on the cross so that you and I will be reconciled to God. Genesis 3:15, the curse given to the serpent is the first prophecy in God’s Word about the coming of the Lord Jesus. Prophesy means something told before it actually happens and then it really comes to pass.

Genesis 3:15: “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” – To make it simple, this means that the devil will be completely defeated one day by the Lord Jesus. This happened when the Lord Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, conquering death and hell and sin.

Christ – the Bridge between God and man

So Christ became the bridge to reconcile man to God. For today’s craft you can draw and color this and keep it as a reminder that Jesus became the one to reconcile you to God. You can read the references and memorize them if possible. You can personalize it by writing your name instead of man. You can also use this illustration to share the Gospel with your friends.

Prayer: Lord Jesus thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank you for rising again the third day. I believe that You are the Son of God. Come into my heart and be my Savior. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
