Understanding the True Meaning of Christmas for Little Hearts – Day 5

Bible Reading: Luke 1:5 – 25

Memory Verse: The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3

Let us begin the Christmas story. Whenever someone great is coming to our city, there will be announcements and banners preparing for that person’s coming. In the same way, before the Lord Jesus Christ was born, God sent another baby into this world to prepare the way for the Lord Jesus. Zacharias was a priest, he and his wife Elizabeth were old and did not have any children. But God promised them a son and gave John who was later known as John the Baptist. John grew up in the desert and he ate locusts and wild honey. He was a humble and simple man who was straightforward and bold and openly proclaimed “Repent and be baptized” He was so bold that he called the religious leaders of those times as a brood of vipers or in simple terms, a group or snakes…he was not afraid of anyone. He only completed the task that God had kept for him on this earth. He went around preaching that the Messiah is coming, repent from your sins and many people repented and were baptized/

He was so bold and had strong convictions, that means he followed God’s Word and if something was wrong, he would say it without being afraid so when he saw that the king was wrong, he told him and the king imprisoned him. When the king’s daughter was asked for a gift, being advised by her mother she asked for the head of John the Baptist on a platter. John the Baptist was killed but he had completed his work on the earth. The Lord Jesus said of John the Baptist “ He was a burning and a shining light” John 5:35

God has sent you and me into this world to be burning and shining lights for Him. We should not be afraid of any man but must boldly tell everyone that Jesus is coming soon. We should live a honest and a just life and be instruments to bring many to Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I know you are coming soon. Please help me to be ready for your coming and also tell all my friends the Good News of Your coming like John the Baptist. Also, help me to be bold and brave to speak up for you whatever be the cost.
