Mary – The Mother of Jesus
We all know the Christmas story. We know of the Lord Jesus being born in the city of Bethlehem in a manger and the shepherds and wise men coming to worship Him. The central character in this Christmas story is the mother of Jesus who brought this little baby into the world. She was chosen of God as His vessel to bear Christ, the Son of God, Emmanuel, God with us. Let us understand the character of this important woman and how we can show forth the Lord Jesus in our lives.
She knew the Word of God. In Luke 1, when she worships the Lord, she quotes scripture. Do you love God’s Word. As a young child, the Word of God must hold the greatest value in your life. It is this Word that will carry you through. Second she said Yes to God’s plan in her life. She was troubled when she was told that she would have a baby since she was not yet married to Joseph. But God told her that by the power of the Holy Spirit, she would bear a son. She accepted God’s plan for her life even if people would misunderstand her. God has a very great plan for your life. He loves you very much and He came into this world to die on the cross for your sins. When He tells you His plan for you, will you follow Him wholeheartedly without asking any questions? He is a faithful and a true God. We should also be submissive and obedient to God’s Word and God’s Will in our lives. We should thank Him and worship Him for all He has done for us.
