Uncle S D Danam’s promotion to glory on 28.04.2021 is a great loss to evangelical and missionary work of Hebron Assemblies in India.
There are very few people who were able to adopt a balanced approach – amid the turmoil for power and pelp and groupism whichgripped the Hebron assemblies – and at the same time continue to
conduct gospel work and look after church welfare. Uncle Danam has been a vociferous proponent of the “Love North,Go North” church planting and gospel movement initiated by late Bro. T. E. Koshy Uncle. Apart from North East, Uncle Danam was keenly involved with our ministry in Chhattisgarh (Bastar division)
and Odisha (Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur districts).

He is one of the few in the leadership cadre in Hebron assemblies in Andhra and Telengana who used his office to launch the work in North India and also take a bold but unpopular step to
support the ministry in North India.
His departure from this earth leaves a great vaccum for NorthIndia ministry because many large assemblies in the south lack the elders who have the dynamism and eagerness and energy to go or send to the hard ground of North India for evangelical work and church planting missions.

Not only that, it’s a setback for North India as Uncle’s visionary attitude has few replicates. He was instrumental in mobilising Beersheba, Kadapa for the North India ministry.
Uncle would always enquire about Chhattisgarh and Odisha ministry from me and he would become emotional and lament the lack of zeal among youth for the large requirements of North India
ministry.
We as a church had a privilege to host Uncle Danam for some of our gospel camps and special meetings in Chhattisgarh and Odisha during the past few years. His cheerful disposition, promptness in timing and energy levels he possessed even during arduous gospel treks in jungle areas of Chhattisgarh and Odisha
were an inspiration to us who are much younger than him.
During gospel camps, he would enjoy the tribal food while other south Indian youth would grimace at the thought of gulping down food in the remote places. Such was his love for the tribal ministry.

Uncle Danam’s penchant for preaching gospel, singing and music are legendary. His sartorial habits and discipline were also unmatched. This April 2021 he was supposed visit Chhattisgarh and Odisha as part of a missionary trip.
But due to outbreak of second wave of Covid19, Uncle told me that he would surely come over once the corona dust settled in. Seems it was not to be so.
On the second day after he was hospitalised due to Covid-19 infection, I spoke to him over the phone. He was his usual cheerful self and said, just pray for me to be discharged soon. Didn’t ever dream that Uncle would be discharged this way.
Feel very sad and will miss you a lot, Uncle.

You are now resting from all your labours.

Adieu to you, Rev. S. D. Danam.
