Understanding the True Meaning of Christmas for Little Hearts – Day 1

Bible Reading: Genesis 1

Memory Verse: Colossians 1:16 – For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

Going by history, December 25 is definitely not the day the Lord Jesus was born. Yet, the world celebrates this day for centuries now and we have also adopted that tradition. I see it this way: if you do not know someone’s exact birthday, you find a day to celebrate it and that sticks on. It makes sense to use this opportunity to share the Gospel, to tell the world about the birth of a great Savior, and to use this day to share God’s great love by giving gifts especially to those in real need.

God’s Beautiful Creation

Let us go back thousands of years to the creation of this world. God created a beautiful world and he created man and woman to enjoy the beauty he created and also to have fellowship with Him. All of you know the beautiful story of creation. Did you know that every day, Adam and Eve had a great time walking around the garden with the Lord. They had fellowship with Him. God gave them everything they asked for but He placed just one commandment before them “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:17

Adam and Eve enjoyed the company of God. They had a beautiful garden to take care of. There were birds, animals, and greenery all around. They named all the animals and birds. It would have been such a beautiful life…until…(we will continue tomorrow).

Today let us do a creation craft:

  • You can click on this template and take a printout on card paper days-of-creation-wheel2
  • Color the template
  • Make a hole in the circle middle and put a metal pin the one that allows the two cards to be rotated.

Your final craft will look like this:

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for this beautiful world you created. Thank you because you want to have fellowship with me and you love me very much. Help me to always seek your presence and be your child.
