We are very grieved to hear of the home call of our dear Chandra Akka, the Lord’s handmaiden, on the afternoon of 7th April 2020. Though she was deteriorating in health, we hoped the Lord would extend her life. But the Lord has been pleased to favour her by relieving her of her pain and suffering and, ushering her into His glorious presence for eternity, with a warm welcome note: “Well done my good, faithful and precious servant (handmaiden)!”
Chandra Akka accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour at a very young age and was one of the firstfruits of the Church in Bangalore. In the year 1962 or so, she surrendered her life as a full-time handmaiden of the Lord, and came to Hebron, and has been in the Lord’s service since then, helping in the VBS and Main Sisters’ Office as well as other ministries. Intermittently, she served the Lord in several parts of South India, ie., Nagercoil, Palayamkottai, Chettimedu, Tiruchi and other places, apart from Jehovah-Shammah, Chennai.
The Lord gave her as a gift to the family, the Church and for the work of the Lord, endowed with many gifts and talents, which she faithfully used for the Lord with dedication, commitment, patience and humility. She had a great passion for souls and a well-equipped sharer of the Word as well as a good mentor and counsellor. She was also a lovable Sunday School and VBS Teacher. Only in eternity we will get to know of her faithful labours for the Lord, our Great Rewarder.
Personally, being a relative of ours, she had been of a great help to us when we were in Hebron. She cared for us with much concern and love. After our mother’s home call, she filled that gap to a great extent in our lives. Even our children have been blessed by her many acts of love. As a family we are grateful to the Lord for her.
She ran her race well, keeping her faith till the end.
She will be greatly missed till we meet her again.

A tribute – God’s hand maiden Aunty chandra
Praise the Lord!
Many of us , well aware of the life and ministry of God’s handmaiden Aunty Chandra who promoted to glory yesterday at Hebron, Hyderabad. The funeral service is going on now at this unprecedented situation.
In the mid eighties many of us were touched and richly blessed by the ministry of VBS. We all know aunties like Lilly moses , Chandra and others were great blessing and highly instrumental to many.
With all new technology facilities, even today conducting VBS is very tough task which involves much labour. In those days it was much more difficult, but they all did it with much sacrifice.
Willing to lay down their lives. Manifesting christ likeness in and through their life ,smile and ministry.
Although they participate in many VBS in different locations, they used to remember the children by names in their faithful prayers.
We know the Lord blessed their ministries and has been giving good yields in the churches now.
Like our blessed saviour, through suffering and dying they not only able to produce much fruits, but the kind of seed of corn which can produce much fruits. Because of such dedicated service, now the Lord has raised many Sunday school & VBS teachers in many churches.
May the Lord’s name be glorified on her funeral service. May the Lord continue to raise many more seeds of corn (Sunday school& VBS teachers) if the Lord’s coming tarries….

CHANDRA AUNTY- A TRIBUTE
My association with Chandra Aunty was very limited . Also I feel unworthy to write about such a person who served the Lord all her life.
Her parents along with all the sons and two daughters dedicated their lives for the Lord. All the brothers were involved in the ministry right from the beginning stage of the Hermon Banglore along with such pioneer stalwarts like Dr Rajendran, Bro Amritaraj . All brothers were blessed in this world in every way- Most importantly in the Ministry. Her only sister Ambujam was married to Dr Simon. They were also instrumental in the ministry wherever they were – Vellore, Bahrain,Chennai, Jolarpettai (the present Prayer House was donated by them ) , Pathankot and other places in Punjab etc etc.
All the brothers were (are) active in the forefront of the ministry.
As Pauly has already mentioned, she left her lucrative government job in Banglore, like MOSES
“Choosing (chose) rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.”
(Hebrews 11:25-26 KJV)
She lived in Hebron bearing patiently spending time in Prayer (groaning)
She had a great burden for the VBS ministry – specially in Tamil. She shared it to me when she came to Coimbatore for helping us in VBS.
She was suffering patiently all the ailments in her frail body. Now, that she has gone to be with the Lord, we celebrate her LIFE LIVED ON THE LORDS ALTAR.

Praise God for Chandra Aunty in my life. She was my VBS group teacher( Seniors).
She was available to pray together and counsel me every time I asked. She used to visit me in my clinic whenever I could not go to her.
I still remember what I learnt from her.
I had privilege to invite her and host her in our VBS, Gospel meetings & Women’s Ministry.
Praise God for the Spiritual Mothers I have who equipped many to do Ministry.
May God comfort her family and her spiritual children.
